Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know my money is being used correctly?
We take transparency seriously.
Every donor gets a unique Donor ID that gives them access to WAVRI’s impact dashboard. You’ll see where your contributions go, track project updates, and receive regular reports. Plus, our community votes on sustainable projects, so you’re not just giving, you’re involved.
Our accountability structure ensures that every donation is accounted for and every impact is visible.
Can I choose which project to support?
At WAVRI, your voice matters and your contribution goes further when we act together. Before supporting, we invite our subscribers to vote on sustainable development projects they believe should be funded next. These could include projects like training women in agro-processing, powering schools with solar energy, or supporting social enterprises tackling unemployment.
However, some needs simply can’t wait. In urgent situations, like funding emergency dialysis sessions or providing relief for displaced families, we allocate a portion of pooled funds (20%) immediately to respond to these crises. These are our charity and emergency interventions, and they are implemented based on verified needs on the ground.
This balanced approach allows us to be both strategic and compassionate, planning for long-term change while still showing up for communities in urgent need. And you’ll always know where your money went through our impact dashboards and transparent reporting.
Can businesses or organisations join?
Yes, organizations can absolutely be part of the Wavemakers community. Whether you’re a nonprofit, corporate body, faith-based group, or community-based organization, WAVRI offers a trusted platform for collective impact.
How do you identify and vet the projects to be funded?
We identify local, African-led projects and solutions that are solving real problems and helping people rise above poverty. Each project goes through a careful vetting process before it’s presented to our community.
